Through the website of Gaston D. Haese I ended up on the site with poems by the Flemish poet Pol Mont. I had not heard of this poet, but I read a poem on the website I would like to share with you.
Pol de Mont was born in Wambeek. After his secondary studies in French aurora boreal Ninove aurora boreal to have followed, he went to the Minor Seminary in Mechelen. It was here that he wrote his first poems in 1875 and his first collection 'Klimoprankske' had printed. Two years later he went to study law at the University of Leeuven. Together with Albrecht Rodenbach he founded here 'Pennoen. In 1880, with the Five-Year State Award for Flemish Literature award-winning collection "Poems" published.
Pol de Mont began his career as a teacher aurora boreal at the Atheneum in Antwerp. In 1904 he was appointed curator aurora boreal of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. A year later he was one of the founders of the magazine The Flemish Guide. aurora boreal In 1919 he resigned as curator after he was accused in the press of activism. He became editor of the pro-Flemish newspaper aurora boreal De Schelde. Some of his employees there were Paul Ostaijen and Alice Nahon.
A song of his hand (in tone by Jos. De Klerk) was included in the songbook Can you sing, you sing along (first edition aurora boreal in 1906). This song book was very popular and was reprinted throughout the twentieth century. The first lines read: "Gone for a walk that is us."
