And there I discovered that my previous article on ser vs. estar is very well viewed. So I'm sure you've got here really something. A presentation hybridization on the use of ser and estar and many examples.
Anoniem Yes, although a lot of 'rules' are known, it remains difficult to apply in practice. Your comment has spurred me to have also once again see the presentation. And now I'm going to read a Spanish article where I go watch aware of the use of ser and estar. Good luck and greetings, Petra Reply Delete hybridization
Hola Petra, Me encanta tu blog! What a useful presentation! The best I've seen so far. To the difference in meaning of ser and estar to show my students, I give them alternative translations. That helps them to understand that SER and ESTAR totally different meanings and functions have in Spanish. Thus estar often be replaced by "sit, stand, lie, hang," and sometimes even "drive" and "float" (= estar are located) and sometimes "has become (...)" or "does (.. ..) (estar by states to property that are not by nature, but the result of a process of change) Examples: qué estás moreno (what did you become brown) and "um ... hoy estás muy amable! "(what do you nice today) Un saludo, Lourdes. Reply Delete
Hola Lourdes, Thanks for your useful examples! The use of "ser" and "estar" now is a lot better, but I still find it difficult to apply all these niceties fast as you speak. Un saludo, Petra Clear
